Boston Globe: MARILYN MANSON Is Just Another Face In The Crowd
August 19, 2003It's not often Marilyn Manson goes to a club and gets ignored. But that's more or less what happened Friday (August 15) when the ghoulish goth rocker showed up at ManRay in Boston after his Ozzfest performance at the Tweeter Center, according to the Boston Globe. Manson and his band arrived at the Cambridge club in time to see his girlfriend, Dita Von Teese, take the stage. "There was kind of a stir when he arrived," said Chris Ewen, DJ at ManRay. "But [the crowd] was extremely into her." Betty Page-like in appearance, the voluptuous Von Teese does a provocative burlesque routine that includes sequins, feathers, a carousel horse, and occasionally a giant martini glass (with Von Teese as the olive). Ewen described Manson's getup Friday as "casual Marilyn" — T-shirt, cap, and just enough eye makeup to look inhuman — and his mood as excellent. "He only threatened to eat the liver of one person who was hovering just a little too much," Ewen said. Manson watched Von Teese's two shows and then promptly left, presumably to get back to his hotel before the sun came up.
